Time to be scared?

My family is afraid for me. They want me to stop expressing myself on this blog and also on the web in general. They are afraid that the big bad govt. is gonna grab me and put me in jail.
On the day that expression of political points of view become illegal, that is the day I institute my own version of open political discord. I never thought I would be a political dissident, but I guess I am.I am amazed that family and friends are so afraid to run against the government. I'm of the mind that it is our duty to monnitor the government, and to call them to task when they are not doing the peoples business, but their own.
For years I let the gov. do what it wanted and never stood up and said boo. Those days are long past now. I realize that to keep the goverment running according to the Consitiution, that I need to be active and vocal. I need to keep the people I hire on their toes and aware of the fact that I no longer will allow them to run roughshod over those rights and duties I hold dear. Now I'm declaring my stand, and let the chips fall where they may, because as an American I have the duty and the right to demand that the government remember who they work for and who set the rules in the first place. The Constitution guarentees my rights and out lines my duties, and If I don't do my duty then my rights will simply disappear.

So is this the time to sit down and be quiet or is this the time to stand up and be counted? I guess I'll be one of the counted, because being quiet as allowed us to come to this point in history.

A scary truth.

I am watching this happen now and it is scary. This is a very scary truth and we see it happen before our eyes. As you review history,(not the revisionist version, but the one we were taught in high schools) you see the correlations. If you go back far enough you can see parallels in ancient Rome and what is happening in our country today. I agree that Americans will never willingly adopt socialism but in the face of social ostracism will be forced to do what is unimaginable.
OF all the things that could happen, and have happened to this great nation, this is the one that will ultimately destroy our society, and our nation. We are denigrated if we are proud of our culture, that is not acceptable, we must move over and allow others to celebrate the culture of their native lands. I'm not against the celebration of their cultures, that is what we are all about. I am against being forced to accept another culture over my own. I believe that if you come to America then you by definition want to become American, with all the baggage that comes with in, including our culture. I have never agreed with the hyphening of the American people, we are not a dualist society, we are Americans first, then Irish, or German or Hispanic or what ever. If I wanted to be anal about it I'm an Native American-German-French-Irish-Polish American. I am an American, period.

To return to my original point. It is a scary truth when one party decides that it is the supreme party and that it has all the answers. It is a scary truth when a government decides who shall live and who shall die, and how that citizen shall die. It is a scary truth when one person deems him/herself the sole proprietor of the truth of what is right and what is wrong. It is a scary truth that if we don't wake up and smell the coffee, it will be too late for us,our children and our grand children and for posterity.

We are a great nation, and to be humbled and destroyed because we were too apathetic to get off our couches and start making waves is just plain wrong.

Boy aint that the truth.

"The American people are tired of liars and people who pretend to be something they're not. "
Hillary Clinton
Dear Ms Clinton.
I have to commend you on your perception of the American Citizen. Now if you could just convince your party to realize what they've become, then maybe we could have an honest discussion on issues, not name calling.

The dems are at it again, as soon as they are unable to defend their position, they resort to name calling "mob" "rabble rousers" "UnAmerican" to avoid the issue. They demand that we let them treat us like idiots, because they can't handle our honest reaction to the Obamacare bill as well as our disdain for their tax and spend mentality. The American people were smart enough to elect them but are too stupid to stop them when they overstep their boundries. I love to remember how I was told that I was an "old foggie" because I didn't like Obama's campaign of lies. I'm not sorry, but I don't usually make the same mistake twice, anymore than I step in the same pile of feces twice.

I want to know since when is it unAmerican to demand that the politicians listen to us. Since when did we become the worker bees to their queenly attitude. Since when did they stop being American Citizens along with the rest of us, and become their own country?

If they are American citizens like us then they have to accept the same taxes as us, not weasle their way out. They need to accept the same insurance that they want us to accept, not the cadillac insurance they get as congresspeople. I want them to come back to reality, knowing that they are not any better just because they feel they can talk smooth. I have to remind them that snake oil salesmen do the same thing day after day. Most snake oil salesmen wind up with horrid reputations because of what they do, do the congresspeople want the same to happen to them?

I also would like to remind them that they were ELECTED by the people, not by GOD and we can unelect them just a quickly as we elected them. Unlike Sotamyor, these seats are not for life, but for a short time. So how do they want to be accepted back by society?
These are just some things to think about, Ms Clinton, so I will let you ponder.
Sincerly
Dana Lind.
A fed up American.

Reflections of being Thankful

Must be something in the air, that makes us want to take a minute, and in some cases 30 seconds, to reflect on what we have to be thankful for.
I have a multitude of things to be thankful for, my family, good friends, a business; that while not making me rich is at least keeping me out of mischief, being able to get a first class education in this state, and being healthy. OH YEAH, and living in a country that even with its warts bumps and sometimes down right ugliness, I love.

In no other country in the world do we live as well as we do in the USA, that includes some of the most industrialized nations in the world. Our umemployment is down, our interest rates are not going through the roof, and we can live comfortably in a nation where we can call the President a nut case and get away with it. I don't think that kind of comment would be recieved well in most countries in the world. Not that I think President Bush is a nut case, in fact I think that for the most part he should be hailed as a hero.

In America today, you can proclaim a terrorist a victim, Hail a tinpot dictator from a small country with lots of oil a visionary, and support a religion that promotes killing innocent children. All that and tell our enemies that we as a government think our current policies are so distorted that we should be offering civil rightes to people who wouldn't hesitate to take ours away.

I am excited by the fact that in this country, we can remove crooked politicians legally, we can let our representatives know where WE stand on issues and remind them occasionally who is really the boss. I can write to my congressmen(or women) and remind them that as their employer they have to listen to what I say or come next election, there will be a new employee in their place.

What I am astounded at, and you'd think that at my age I wouldn't be, is the apathy of the people who should be in charge of keeping our politicians on the straight and narrow, how through ignorance or laziness, the 3rd estate manages to misrepresent, or twist the truth so a common reader, watcher, listener, doesn't really have enough honest facts to form an opinion.
How the ones whom we've put in charge think that the general populace are idiots, or children, unable to make or form their own opinion. And the number of people who are willing to put up with just about anything, as long as it doesn't "affect them or their children". Who believe that welfare is a good idea, in any way shape or form, and that they "can't be bothered" to do a little discovery themselves but are willing to take the word of a journalist who has an agenda so wide open it looks like an atlas.

Like I said, at the beginning, I'm proud to be an American, who can speak her mind here and in the public arena. I am more than proud of the vets and the soldiers who gave their time, energy and in some cases their lives to allow me to publish my thoughts. Shame on the people who would not hear, or carry this message along, because heaven forbid, it's truely an honest statement of feeling.

Wake up, if we don't stand together, we will surely hang apart.
Now back to the turkey left overs.

Here we go again.

Dear Governor Doyle,

Congratualations you have another 4 years to try and bankrupt the state, and you almost succeeded last term. Between what you've paid your cronies, and what you've promised to illegal immigrants, you just might suceed this time.

How dare you raise the registration fees on people who can't afford it, or who have enough taxes to pay with out this? I am amazed that you think we are so stupid that we won't pay attention when our car registration comes due and it's 48 % higher than last year! Where is all this money supposed to come from, and where in the world is it going? I've seen little improvement in our roads, but then again, those are in good shape and don't need a lot of improvement. To build new roads? Well again, we really don't need new ones, we have 25% more roads per/captia than the surrounding states.

The hike is going to hit the ones who support this state, the single working mom, who has a good paying job, but it's far enough away that she needs her car. She will be faced with the choice of either paying the piper, or quiting the job so that she can find a lesser paying one closer to home that doesn't require a car. What about the family, the dad works 2 jobs, the mom works one so that they can maintain a home and nice lifestyle. Not extravagant, by any means but nice. They will face the choice of either the wife, or the husband giving up one of the jobs so that they can continue to at least live in their homes. Some where down the road there will be things they will have to cut back on, such as saving for college for their kids, or planning their retirement.

The ones that this is not going to hurt are the pet projects of the governor, and his associates. The ones who will benifit from this increased slush fund. WEAC, the Road Builders, the illegal immigrants, and the ones who already have enough money with out having to worry about a little thing like a registration hike.

If anyone from Wisconsin is reading this, I am begging you to please contact your State assemblyman(woman) and state senator. Let them know that you will remember in 2 years or 4 what they have voted on and how it will affect you and your family. Tell them the DOT is way over the TOP on this and it will not be tolerated.

Perspectives

Wednesday, November 15, 2006

Hello and welcome to a nonp.c blog.

Perspective: as seen from a point of view, or angle.

I’m not a blogger in general; normally I express my opinions to friends and family. On a rare occasion I will express those in public. Now I feel is the right time to express some opinions, in the internet sphere…

I’m a mom, a grandma, a wife, a student and a business owner. I’ve lived long enough to have gone from being a hard core liberal, to a recovering liberal to a conservative. If you look up the term conserve, you find some terms like save, value, handle with respect, responsible. The bible calls it being a good steward. That is what I want to be a good steward, so that when my grandchild is born, there will be something she can value, respect, save, and be responsible for.

Let’s start with the latest race for Governor in Wisconsin, where I’m from. The majority of the state is conservative; we are for the most part blue collar, hard working people, who value honesty and integrity. What did not surprise me is the fact that the Democrats won, what surprised me is by the fact that our state was sold, lock stock and barrel, by some really sleazy political tricks, and money that’s questionable to say the least, and illegal to say the most. I used to brag that we in Wisconsin were one of the cleanest states in the union, never having had a major political scandal in its history. Now we have a Governor who has had one of his insiders go to jail, and there’re a number of his “deals” that are being investigated, and not just by the State, but by the federal Government. Now that is something that we really have to brag about.

Hello does any one remember not that long ago who we were laughing at? Now we are facing the same type of ridicule from other states, we have become the laughing stock of the country with our “juicy” political scandals. It’s interesting to me that we were so eager for change that we voted in most of the democratic ticket, but did not stop to think that with that we have re elected a governor who has sold our state and its values to the highest bidder. So now we’ve become the lawsuit capital of the world, and we have opened the door to becoming the prime target for illegal immigrants. We’ve managed in the past 4 years to chase corporations out of the state, corporations who pay a large share of taxes, and hire a large share of Wisconsin citizens.

We’ve gone back to the time when welfare was not just a helping hand, but an entitlement, when personal responsibility has become something that is not recognized at least not in public, and sometimes not in private either. Where family has become what ever we want it to mean, not what it has always meant. When being outside your home could be a health hazard, because of shootings, and gang violence. Police, who are trying to help; but are hampered by being undermanned, underpaid and at the mercy of a system that allows for the rights of the criminal, but not the victim.

I welcome any and all points of view, but do ask that if you disagree with me, to please keep it civil, and as my mom would say,WATCH your mouth. I look forward to hearing from you.

Dana
